I have to sell the contents of my etching studio: 1) Press, by Bewick and Wilson; electric powered, bed size 30" by 59", with micrometer adjustable pressure and the bed marked in centimetres. Condition as new (hardly used since I bought it, having shortly after had to give up printing.) I paid £4000+ for it but would consider a reasonable offer. 2) Blankets for the above the best quality. Again, condition as new, hardly used' cost me £500 but am open to offers. 3) There remain a number of other items, including grounds, (liquid and solid, hard and soft) ingredients for making grounds, stopping out varnish (large bottles) and other odds and ends, including a small quantity of paper ( Somerset) and a complete pack of 100 Fabriano Artistico, suitable for screen printing which I bought in error. 4) I would also like to dispose of a proofing press (relief). This is of the type used to proof galleys of e.g., the Times; bed size capable of printing up to almost half-Imperial paper (15"+22") with inking and impression rollers and paper grippers (foot operated). |

| "Storm In A Teacup" by Sara Hayward is the current exhibition at Worcester Porcelain Museum, Severn St., Worcester, showing for the first time a suite of six etchings, entitled "The Worcester Etchings". Inspired by the intensely crosshatched, chiaroscuro still life etchings of seventeenth century Master printmaker Rembrandt van Rijn, these drypoint etchings were created in The Museum store, and use the sustainable method of saline copper sulphate on aluminium. With digital work on display also, the exhibition of over 40 pieces, seeks to encourage a debate about older, slow methods of representation (eg etching), versus new, fast methods (eg digital). After the exhibition finishes on June 22nd 2008, The Worcester Etchings will remain on display permanently at The Museum. The exhibition follows a ten month residency (funded by the Leverhulme Trust)where printmaker Sara Hayward set up a temporary etching studio in twentieth century gallery in The Museum. |
